Now that all seeds are dry its time to put them away till next May.There are three rules that should be followed in storing your seed,

  1. Make sure the seeds are well dried before storing.
  2. Store them in a cool place.
  3. Protect the seeds from moisture.

When large flat seeds like pumpkin seeds are dry they should make a snapping sound when twisted. We can then divide up all the seeds into batches 10 and store each batch in small envelopes. The envelopes are then stored in airtight containers such as glass jars and stored in a cool dry place.

The reason for breaking down the seeds into batches is that in the event that one of the seeds should rot than the infected seed will only contaminate the other seeds in the batch and will not  infect the others batches if caught in time, so check your seeds every so often but if you follow the three rules above you should not have any problems.

Also label each envelope with the seed variety you saved along with the date that the seed was saved.
